‘Renate Reuter, is the president of the Portrait and Figure Painters Society of SW Florida, Inc. (PFPS). She is also public relation person and assists various known artists and art organizations with their media since several years. She moved here to southwest Florida in 2002 after a long career in the corporate business world. She is a professional fine visual and international artist and has received several awards for her own paintings. They have been on display in galleries in Naples, Bonita Springs Art League, the Rauschenberg gallery at Edison College, Big Arts on Sanibel and presently at the Gannon Art & Antiques in South Fort Myers. She has European customers who obtained her paintings.
Her goal with PFPS is to provide scholarships and recognition for local art students in the fine visual arts of portraits and figures in various medium and styles.’
B I O G R A P H Y
My lifelong interest in the visual arts has developed over several years of intense observation and study in the various areas she has lived from her early childhood in Germany, in the New York City area and now in Southwest Florida. Her background and formal education include design, layout and planning, color technology, and corporate and international communication.
"I live in Southwest Florida, so I can be on the beach or in the woods within a few minutes. Things that spark an idea for a painting - interesting people, animals, interesting locations, a new sunny day or golden afternoon, colorful cloud formation, early morning mist, sunsets and sunrises - constantly inspires me to paint. The completion of each painting finds me anxiously anticipating the future canvases. The creative motivation of being surrounded by this beautiful tropical environment and being in the company of other artists along with those who also appreciate this area enrich my life."
She continues to update and refine her skills by attending academic lectures, critiques and studio workshops given by prominent local painters and internationally-known artists. Renate is a member of many art organizations and is active in several of them by volunteering her time and using her background professional and formal business experience including public relations, and by donating paintings to benefit local and national charitable fundraising. She has won awards for portraits, location scenes, and
her work has been shown locally in juried and invitational shows and galleries including Sanibel, Bonita Springs, Naples, and Fort Myers/Fort Myers Beach.
Renate is a member of the American Portrait Society, Florida Watercolor Society; Art Council of SW Florida.
She is the President and Founder of the Portrait and Figure Painters Society of SW Florida, Inc.
Along with her tropical scenes, wildlife, and still life studies she is currently also producing a series of local scenes and people in which she is sensitively communicating with the viewer a sense of juxtaposition of color, composition and symbol in expressing time and place and character.
"Some work of mine was a challenge because I am reminded of Renoir, Matisse and Monet who also painted scenes of where they lived and incorporated the culture of the time. My art is my 100% own creation and ideas. I give those who collect my work a guarantee of an original painting that I have not reproduced into prints or giclees."
Two of Renate's award-winning portrait paintings were accepted at the Art League of Bonita Springs's '07 juried exhibition and then were on display at the Sims Fine Art Gallery in Cape Harbour until May '08. They are portraits that depict the innocence of childhood.
A 2nd prize winner, a painting of a Montmartre' cafe' in Paris/France where artists dine were on exhibition at Temple Beth El in South Ft. Myers in 2006. This oil painting shows originality in subject, layout and color and is reminiscent of her visit in France when she was younger. This painting also has a matching 'companion picture depicting an Italian water scene.'
Renate had a 'one-women invitational'show at the Sanibel Congregational Church of Christ in '07 and she is getting prepared for 'one-women invitational' in August 2010 at the beautiful Cape Coral Library.
"I am inviting all my customers to view My Gallery on this website."
